Album Release Afterthoughts

Wow. Where do we start? We want to thank everybody for making the Buck N’ Nice/Flight Distance dual album release party a huge success. Ottawa has this reputation for not being a hip hop city, and not supporting local. Anybody from out of town last night, would have never guessed it. The venue was packed to capacity from a little before 10:30, right through to the end of the night. Not only that, but there was a constant line up outside the spot. We want to thank every single one of you who came through and celebrated these releases with us. Some people waited in line for over an hour to come watch us throw down, and others waited and still couldn’t get in. We want to apologize to the people who weren’t able to get in, and we hope that next time you aren’t in that position. We tried our best to get people in, but capacity is capacity. Again, thank you all for your support. We can speak on behalf of Flight Distance as well in saying that we were all extremely humbled by the turn out, participation, and overall level of support shown last night. Ottawa is a hip hop city. We met a lot of great people last night, and we hope to connect with you all again in the future. Obviously, we mean future shows, not on some Star Trek shit.

10258116_10152744889140071_2573918482398798580_nWe want to give a HUGE thank you to House of TARG for hosting this release. It was their first ever full blown hip hop show, so we hope they’ve seen how great the hip hop community is, and allow us to do it again in the future. The staff there was great. Much respect to Blake, the bar staff, security (who handled the capacity situation very well), the sound man (who was the best I’ve ever seen. Ever.), and all other staff for making everything run smoothly.

For those that saw our set, you were able to witness two very talented drummers alongside us on stage. MUCH respect to our brothers, Circa Beatz, and Kambow. These dudes put in mad work rehearsing with us, and came through with an unreal performance. Thank you both for your time and commitment, it was beyond dope, and we hope you know you’re doing it again. Not even asking. Sorry?

We’d also like to thank our brothers, Flight Distance (Bender, Patience, and DJ Calkuta), for doing this dual
release with us. We have an enormous amount of respect for these artists, and this show only added to it. Their dedication to the craft isDSC_5918 something that all artists can learn from, and live show game is ridiculous.Their new album, High Priests of Low-Life, has gem after gem on it. If you haven’t, you should peep that, and support that, here: http://flightdistance.bandcamp.com.

Much love to Tukan and Prehistoric (along with DJ Alive) for bodying their sets to kick off the night. The crowd was loving both of you, and that energy stayed throughout the night. That’s how it’s done ladies and gentlemen. True hip hop was in the building, and true heads were in attendance. Thanks again to you both.

There was also  great live audio taken care of by Matt Robillard, which was straight from the sound board. We’ll be getting that audio in the days to follow, so we’ll see what we can do with that, and maybe release the audio. In the meantime, we’ve attached some pictures by both talented photographers.

Big ups to Elly Laberge of Eventful Capital/Couch Assassins for coming through and supporting the event. Your help in promoting the show was definitely a contributing factor to the success of it, and we know this. Thank you so much! We’d also like to thank Jessa Runciman for listing this event among CBC’s top 4 things to do this week in OttawaDSC_6014DSC_6011. Your support has been amazing, and is continuously introducing our work to more and more people. We’d also like to thank Peter Simpson of the Ottawa Citizen for his help in spreading the awareness on this event multiple times. You’ve supported us a number of times with the album, the release party, and video releases. We really appreciate everything you’ve done. We don’t forget where our growth is coming from. It’s from people like you guys, helping us, so thank you, thank you, thank you.

Last but not least, we want to thank our friends and family for coming through and supporting the release. There’s something about having those closest to you in attendance that just makes the night feel that much better. This night was amazing on every possible level, and we’re so happy that we were able to celebrate this with you all. We appreciate the continuation of the same support that got us this far.
